Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: June 2026
InKindRa is committed to working in a way that helps protect adults, families and carers from abuse, neglect, exploitation and harm.
InKindRa is not an emergency service and does not investigate safeguarding concerns. Where there is an urgent or immediate concern, people should contact the appropriate emergency, statutory or safeguarding service.
Urgent concerns — do not use this website to report an emergency
If someone is at immediate risk of harm or there is a life-threatening emergency, call 999.
For urgent medical advice that is not life-threatening, contact NHS 111 (call 111 or visit nhs.uk/111).
For non-emergency police concerns, call 101.
You can also contact the relevant local authority safeguarding team, social services or adult protection route for where the person lives.
Our role
InKindRa provides Registered Nurse-led guidance, practical support and coordination. We may become aware of safeguarding concerns through conversations with families, carers, professionals or people seeking support.
Where safeguarding concerns arise, we will take them seriously, record relevant information appropriately and signpost or escalate to the appropriate statutory route where required.
InKindRa does not replace local authority safeguarding teams, social services, police, NHS services, emergency services or other statutory bodies.
Safeguarding responsibility
Kate Phillips is InKindRa’s safeguarding lead and has completed Level 3 Safeguarding for Managers and Designated Safeguarding Leads. David Culling has completed Level 1 Safeguarding Awareness.
InKindRa keeps safeguarding responsibilities, boundaries and escalation routes under review as the service develops.
Capacity, consent and decision-making
Where capacity, consent or decision-making is unclear, different legal frameworks may apply across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Mental Capacity Act 2005 applies in England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate capacity and adult protection frameworks. InKindRa does not provide legal advice and does not determine capacity. Where capacity, consent or decision-making is unclear, families should seek appropriate statutory, clinical or legal guidance.
